How to Take Good People/Portrait Photographs
People are probably the most widely photographed subjects. However, people photography needs special treatment in terms of composition, lighting, depth of field and most importantly a “natural look”. It is a misconception that shooting people/portraits needs elaborate studio equipment. Contrary to the popular belief, people can be photographed successfully in natural light.

Due to the huge opportunities, sometimes, the online medium is more competitive than the “material reality” and, here, existing is equivalent to being professional. Freelance web designers but also specialized companies noticed this fact very quickly, doing their best to have an interesting and eye-catching online presence at the same time.

Power Over Others- Its Not What You Think
When I started my career, oddly enough as an illustrator, I asked a famous artists why there were so many nasty peers in the business and why professionals of his level were so friendly and helpful. He smiled and said, “there’s all the room at the top and precious little room at the bottom!”
It’s very true. Those just starting out are jockeying for position, work and notoriety and the competition can get nasty…

The Art of using Illustrations in Web Design
There are many of elements that go into enhancing a web design project. Typography, new technologies and UX design patterns are only some of them. One the most powerful is illustrations and vector graphics. They can be handy in a broad range of applications. Remember the cliché, a picture is worth a thousand words? In using them, we designers are able to do more while spending less.

Office Bullying: Designers Are The Biggest Targets
As in the schoolyard, some children just do not play well with others. Some children are liars and some are tattle-tales. Some children just make up for having small penises with office power plays. That goes for some women I know, too!
Human resources or employee relations in any firm, large or small just wants the status quo and ignores what will rock the boat and injure only internal organs with no outward signs of beatings and that emotional scars can be given a mental bandage later on. Creatives are usually the targets, just as we were in the schoolyard.

15+ Inspirational Examples of Website Redesign
One of the best ways to survey the evolution of Web design over a number of years is to compare different versions of websites. In other words, by comparing redesigned websites to their earlier incarnations, we become informed about new technologies, design trends and other things that emerged in the time between the two designs and the impact of these things on Web design.

Relationship Between Gestalt Principles and Design
Inspiration and creativity always follow recognizable patterns which come from culture and social trends to be effective. To works well design has to consider not just the single element but how the totality is perceived. That’s how we can define the Gestalt Theory, a matter of perception.

How to Effectively Photographing Interiors
Lighting conditions indoors are much more uncertain than in the open air. The strength of the light as well as its direction may vary a great deal according to the size of the windows and the way they are facing. Besides, the room itself may be large or small and decorated in light or dark tones.

Learn the Basics of Digital Photography
As a popular hobby over the past 170 years, one feature that remained constant in photography is the need for a camera to be loaded with a film that needs chemical processing. In a traditional camera, the photographic film, a strip of plastic covered in chemicals that react when exposed to lights, is the crucial factor. In a digital camera, the place of the film is taken by a small chip called a CCD. CCD reacts to the light just as film does. CCD converts the light into a digital electronic form, instead of storing the image chemically which can be stored in a computer.

Working With Recruiters: The Hard Truth
Again, in a perfect world, the recruiter would handle the entire package. THAT is how a commission is earned. Finding candidates, weeding through them to find one or several to present to the company (or client) for a specific position, arranging interviews, negotiating salary and benefits and making sure the candidate works out (it is general practice that if the candidate doesn’t last one year at the hiring company, the recruiter forfeits the fee). In the reality of today, that may be rare and the comments on the last article attest to that.

Favor Done, Now Where's MY Good Karma!?
We hear it all the time from clients or those who want to be clients; “do me a favor and…”
It always ends up with creatives being asked to work for free or give up something we would rather not give up. It makes us feel low, worthless and frustrated and those are feelings no human should have, especially in business. What about when it comes from other creatives? Shouldn’t we know better? Are there those that know better but take advantage of their peers?

ObsessedCreative Featured By Owner Jul 14, 2010   Interface Designer
Hello Deepak1uw,

Recently I was browsing the web doing some logo research and I came across your "melt" logo and it is EXTREMELY similar to my company's word mark design and execution, developed around 2005-2006.

As a fellow designer and design enthusiast, I hope you can understand the need to protect my brand and identity. So I ask you if you can please not use this logo and please do not keep this "logo" hosted on this site.

My logo and mark that I have been using for many years can be seen at my website www.obsessedcreative.com

All of my contact info is available on the site as well if you would like to further discuss this issue. Like I said I hope that we can see eye to eye as designers and humans and not have to resort to legal means to solving this problem.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation
